I would like to congratulate you on the successful installation of LED tube fixtures in our 9000 square foot cooler (convertible to a freezer).
The cold storage industry has been moving towards standardizing lighting with the use of T-5 and T-8 fixtures. Some savings are gained by using motion sensors but the savings are minimized (or wiped out) by shortened bulb life (due to cycling); and, due, to heating requirements, half of the fixture needs to stay on at all time.
All of our quotes to build this cooler came in with fluorescent, T-5, fixtures.
The LED fixtures you provided were more money up front but we believe we will see a return on our investment in less than a year due to power savings. From that point on we hope to enjoy a very long life of the tubes themselves benefiting from the reduced hope to enjoy a very long life of the tubes themselves benefiting from the reduced maintenance that would have been required for the T-5 lighting.
As an aside, I happened to visit the cooler the other day with a representative form Phillips (lighting company); he was very impressed with the quality of light within the room.
We look forward to doing more projects with you and your company.
Due to the varied age of our facilities we feel there will be many opportunities to utilize LED's in the future.
